Can I cancel DH now?
Please don't. It's better to open a 30 Day free trial account at Linux Hosts Inc. first to try them out and to find out if that's the best solution for you. You can ask the company's migration specialists to move all files from your current DH account to the new one. It doesn't matter how many files you have, how many web sites/blogs, or how complicated the move is. You won't be charged, it's all free. If you don't want to open a new hosting account, you will have to make a backup of your websites and save it to your computer. See to it that the backup is complete including data bases if you have them. Now you can use the backup to transfer your files to another host.
So, when can I cancel DH?
You can cancel your current DH account once your files have been transferred to your new account by Linux Hosts Inc. or to your computer by yourself on the condition that you have given yourself some time to try them out first. You have 30 days time to do this so there's no need to be in a hurry.
How do I cancel DH?
You should be able to cancel online in your DH account. Keep in mind that some web hosting providers make it difficult by hiding the cancellation button so, maybe you'll have to click around a bit. Contact technical support if you're unable to cancel your account online. Also send a cancellation request to customer service that includes all your details.
How to get a refund from DH?
If eligible you can send DH a refund request. Explain why you think to be eligible and how you want to be refunded. Common methods are PayPal, credit card or bankwire refunds.
How to cancel PayPal recurring payments to DH?
In your PayPal account go to Profile/Settings/Financial Information/Pre-Approved Payments and cancel.
How to stop payments from my credit card?
If you are paying by credit card and you suspect that DH will not stop getting money from it, despite your cancellation request, you can call the bank and tell them that your credit card is lost. The bank will block the card immediately and usually issue a new one within a week.
Dreamhost is a rip off. After finding a web hosting discount coupon, I signed up. This should have been easy but the Dreamhost Scam Team uses Google Checkout. Seems like a good idea, but it is not. Google Checkout has thousands of would be Dream Hosting clients who are very frustrated and want their money back. Just search for Google Checkout problems on Google and you can find it out for yourself.
Dreamhost Problem #2: Is This Host Blind?
My problem with Google Checkout was that the account got stalled. My credit card showed that payment was made and also Google Checkout showed the payment, but Dream Host showed that they had not received any payment. After some digging I found out that this was a common problem with them. The Dreamhost Sucks Team has no contact number and no live chat support. I waited 5 days for some sign that the payment was made, but nothing happened.
Dreamhost Issue #3: No Response.
I emailed the web host each and everyday, but there was no response. On the 6th day I threatened legal action and demanded a refund or immediate hosting account activation. Three hours later my account was activated. Finally.
Now, to be honest, I had no further problems until recently. I repeat, for 3 months I had no problems. Downtime was minimal and response time was acceptable. But, continue reading to see what happened to me a month ago.
Dreamhost Problem #4: Cancelling Accounts For No Good Reason.
Last month I received the following email from the sucking Dreamhost company:
"We are sorry to inform you that we have disabled your account. This is due to a violation of our terms of service, specifically Material Products, Section 8: Customer agrees to not engage in activities pertaining to Black Hat SEO. Pursuant to this policy, the WordPress plugin "All in One SEO Pack" is prohibited on our web hosting servers."
Now let me tell you this: the Wordpress plugin "All in One SEO Pack" is the world's most popular Wordpress plugin and is 100% White Hat SEO. It automatically optimizes any Wordpress blog for the Search Engines. It is rated 5 stars out of 6 and is currently being used by 6,999,981 webmasters worldwide. This makes it very clear that this company is the only hosting provider in the world who doesn't allow this indispensable, vital, essential, and crucial plugin. Dreamhost sucks even more than I expected. I cancelled my account and I am now a very happy hosting customer with another service. What a great company and professional support. Last but not least, this company has fewer account cancellations than any other service.
This is an actual customer story about the Dream Host scam submitted by Shandon Lewis - Arizona.
As we can see in this evaluation, the customer emailed the horrible Dream Host firm several times about the checkout problem, but the crap company did not reply. On day number six the customer threatened to publish his experience and told them to send his payment back or instantly activate his account. 3 hours later his website hosting service was activated. Never do business with this crappy provider. They are terrible and many ex-customers hate them. A professional company will never have an unstable payment processing system because profit is what it's all about, right? This situation is worsened by the fact that their shit support sometimes doesn't react at all and that one of the most popular and stable WP plugins appeared to be a reason for them to deactivate the customer's account. Even I myself have been using that great plugin for many years and it always worked as promised. This account deactivation should never have happened and it's an insult to the plugin developers. They are cheaters. I consider this a scandal. My personal experience with them was super short. I signed up for an account but it was impossible to activate my plan. I was able to login but could not do any more than that. They screwed me and I was so pissed off that I immediately cancelled my account and asked for a refund. They refunded my money and I never heard from them anymore which in itself also is a clear indication that these miserable people are not really interested in their clients. This whole experience happened in a timeframe of about 30 minutes, can you imagine that? Dreamhost sucks. The only advantages I can think of is that their site shows a good responsive web design and it loads fast. The disadvantage however are the issues as mentioned in this document. Let me add that this writing is not waterproof. After all, a company can always improve later on. However, for the moment I don't see this happen. Let's just hope it will. Finally, may I invite you to read the banner at the top of this page? Following it will save you a lot of time and headache because it points to the provider with the lowest customer cancellation rate! Thank you so much for dropping by and please come back now and then for updates!
